Why Microsoft’s New Ad, “I’m A PC” is a winner

The new Microsoft Ad aired tonight and it’s tagline is “I’m A PC”, and features a parody of the “I’m a Mac and I’m A PC” ad. It’s about a 60-90 second advertisement and features a bunch of average joe’s along with celebrities to show that they use PC’s. Why most might find this commercial to be a boring advertisement featuring a lame tagline, it does a few things.

1. It features a lot of people mentioning PC and not a MAC. This was a main goal for Microsoft.

2. It brands the PC idea to Microsoft and does it subtley. You do see Bill Gates in the ad for a quick second or two but most importantly you see a PC and its relation to Microsoft.

Overall, a winning commercial. It does detract away from the Jerry Seinfeld ads that had been rolling, but it’s a branding ad and it works.
