Is the iRex a Kindle Killer? Or Another EBook casualty?
iRex announced and is beginning to ship a new ebook reader which is larger and more responsive than the Amazon Kindle but at $649/$749 price points, is it too much? A gorgeous 10.2″ screen is much larger than the Kindle’s but when is the ebook market over saturated? The Sony ebook reader came and went and has a few fans, but the portability and price of the Kindle is what Amazon fans love. It’ll be interesting to see how these work and as they ship soon, how readers enjoy the unit. Seeing as it supports Unsecured Text: Adobe® PDF, TXT, HTML, DRM Text: Mobipocket PRC, Image: JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF and BMP formats, it’s a widely open platform to view books and pictures on.
