Review – The Netflix Player By Roku – Grab One Today

We got the chance over the past two weeks to play around with The Netflix Player by Roku. This is a set top box that allows for online streaming of your Netflix Queue to your television via your internet connection. Installation was simple as can be and no technical expertise is required. Just take the Roku player out of the box, attach the AC Adapter to your power strip, determine if you want a wired or wireless connection to your router, and then your choice of RCA, Component, or HDMI to your television. We set it up within 20 minutes of unboxing it and the step by step guide on the television guided you through the process. You do need to be by a computer to acquire a special access code and then add movies to your queue via the Netflix website. Once you add a few television shows or movies to your queue, the Roku player instantly starts streaming your content to your television and there you go. Simple as can be. We tried it via RCA, Component, and HDMI and found the quality very acceptable and delightful. A remote control is included in the package to control the Roku and it’s simple to operate the onscreen menus.

Overall, we like the interface and the ability to watch the Netflix content over the web to your tv. A high speed connection via cable or DSL does help and would affect quality of the streaming content.

The Netflix Player by Roku retails for $99 and is available online or at Roku.com. 9/10 in our books. Do you have one? Leave your feedback in the comments.
